Snow on the first day of spring? Lighten up!

A cold front will move south into the Philadelphia region on Friday, set up for the weekend, and bring a small chance of light snow on Sunday night.

The combination of colder temperatures and a low pressure system off the North and South Carolina coast will lead to some uncertainty as some weather models suggest the system will stay close to the coastline, while others show it going out to sea, according to the National Weather Service. If it does hang off the coast, light precipitation is possible across the region on Sunday.

And while surface temperatures are looking too warm on Sunday for snow, snow showers could develop Sunday night into Monday, forecasters said.

Meanwhile, temperatures on Wednesday night and Thursday morning look to remain mild for mid-March, in the mid-to-upper 40s. The colder air arrives later on Thursday, bringing a chance of light showers in the afternoon and even isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds in some locations.

High temperatures on Friday should be closer to the season normal.
