The first-ever Philadelphia Drawing Marathon will take place in March.

A "drawing marathon" will take place at Fleisher Art Memorial on Friday, March 3. The event, which is free and open to the public, is being hosted by the New York Academy of Art.

The academy has hosted numerous drawing events. At a recent one, rock star Iggy Pop posed as the nude model for participants to sketch. This will be the first time the academy has hosted a drawing marathon in Philly, however.

Local artists, art students and artists-to-be are invited to sketch figure models for eight hours. The marathon runs from 1-9 p.m.

Director of the New York Academy of Art’s drawing program and Philadelphia resident Michael Grimaldi will lead the session, offering tips and portfolio reviews, too.

While the event is free, an RSVP is required. Send an email to admissions@nyaa.edu.
