Woman, 70, who wielded blade concealed inside cane in fatal Ardmore stabbing, sentenced to decades in prison

Renee DiPietro, 70, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison for killing man in Ardmore in June using a 16-inch blade she had concealed inside her cane. DiPietro had intervened in a fight involving her son, who had been kicked out of a bar and called for a ride home. DiPietro claimed she had acted in self-defense.

A former medical assistant at Carbon Health Urgent Care faces new charges after allegations sexual assault and other crimes by a dozen women, Montgomery County prosecutors said Friday. Ramon Garcia, 33, was arrested last month after two women reported he had sexually assaulted them.

17 people arrested in Philly cocaine bust that nets guns, cash and other drugs

Seventeen people have been arrested in connection with an investigation into a Philadelphia drug trafficking ring that resulted in the seizure of cocaine, marijuana, guns and cash, prosecutors said. James Lofton, 60, of Philadelphia, was identified Thursday as one of the alleged ringleaders of the network.

South Jersey library apologizes for possibly handing out fake eclipse glasses

The Moorestown Library in South Jersey issued an alert before Monday's solar eclipse saying the specialized shades it gave out may have been counterfeits. The library in Burlington County apologized, explaining that it bought Medical King glasses from Walmart.com but determined they were likely counterfeits.

At least three people shot at Eid al-Fitr event in West Philly

At least three people at West Philly park were injured by gunfire on Wednesday afternoon while attending a large celebration to mark the end of Ramadan, Philadelphia police said. One of the people injured, a 15-year-old boy, is among the suspected shooters and was wounded by police gunfire. Five people have been arrested, police said.
