A Philadelphia public school staffer brought a firearm to a Center City charter school on Wednesday.
Police were called to Russell Byers Charter School after school employees were made aware that the individual had brought a gun and some students saw the weapon, Philly.com reported.
Police escorted the staffer out of the building.
Principal Kareem Goodwin penned a letter to parents Wednesday that said the staffer was placed on “indefinite suspension.”
“We are thankful that at no time was the safety of our students in jeopardy,” Goodwin wrote.
Police said no arrests have been made, but the situation is still under investigation.
The staffer has not yet been identified and it’s still unclear why the firearm was brought to the school.
