Stone Harbor's diamondback terrapins, which often cross the town's roads in search of an area to nest, inspired the race's name.

A portion of proceeds will go to the Terrapin Conservation Program at The Wetlands Institute.

Registration for the 5K is $30. Prizes will be given to the top three men and women finishers in each age category.

The two-mile walk is untimed. Registration is $20.

All runners and walkers will receive a Turtle Trot T-shirt, while supplies last.
