The upcoming movie "Straight Outta Compton" took over the internet Friday with a simple meme generator, and Philly folks participated in the fun.

The film, set for an August 14 release date, profiles the rise of the hip-hop group N.W.A. in the late 1980's and their eventual disbandment.

"Straight Outta Compton" is also the title of N.W.A.'s debut album, and was the basis for a fun tool created by the movie's promotional team.

The meme generator allows users to take pictures and give them a black and white filter with "Straight Outta" in the front followed by whatever place or thing you like, providing a photo similar to the movie's poster.

The generator created a buzz across the entire internet (especially in sports). Local social media users weren't any different. Here are some of the best #StraightOuttaPhilly pictures:
