Teen fatally shot in head in Tioga-Nicetown: 6ABC

A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times – including in the head – and killed in Philadelphia's Tioga-Nicetown section Monday, 6ABC reported.

The shooting happened shortly after 4 p.m. in the 4200 block of Hicks Street, and the teen was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital later.

It is the latest in a series of violent incidents in that city neighborhood.

Early Monday morning a man was shot in the back during an attempted robbery in Tioga-Nicetown, 6ABC reported. That incident reportedly happened before 5 a.m. near North 17th Street and Erie Avenue.

The victim reportedly had been riding a bicycle and stopped at a newsstand, when a vehicle with four men arrived, one of the men exited the car and attempted to rob the bicyclist.

The victim was taken to Temple University hospital where he was listed in stable condition this morning. The incident remains under investigation.

On Nov. 15, a drive-by shooting in the Tioga-Nicetow resulted in a car crash. That incident occurred on North 17th Street as a 28-year-old male driver traveled toward Erie Avenue. A second vehicle with at least two male occupants drove head on toward the first car and opened fire, according to police.
