Temple escapes ECU with win, stay undefeated heading into Notre Dame game

Looking to stay undefeated, Temple’s (7-0) offense couldn’t get out its own way on the road at East Carolina (4-4). Like, they literally couldn’t get of their own way:

As it turns out, college teams also don’t play pretty football on Thursday nights. Temple sure didn’t, but they came up big in winning time. P.J. Walker, the Owls’ steady junior quarterback who struggled at times to connect with receivers downfield, hit Robby Anderson (the dude who would’ve scored in the Vine) from 33 yards out to give the Owls a 17-14 lead with 3:31 remaining in the game.

After a three-and-out and blocked punt on the ensuing East Carolina series, star running back Jahad Thomas iced the game with a 14-yard touchdown run just over a minute later. There was no other scoring, and Temple survived a tough test from East Carolina with a 24-14 victory. That’s right, your Temple Owls are 7-0. Spread the word.

The details are nice and the details are fun, but the only thing that matters is that Temple found a way to win. The Owls will play Notre Dame on national television in primetime next week, at home, with a national ranking and 7-0 record. What a time to be alive.
