The Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

The Irish Pub Tour de Shore will take place July 17. Participants take off from the Irish Pub on Walnut Street and bike 65-miles to the original Irish Pub location in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The funds from the event benefit children and the families of fallen officers in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey Region.

Twenty-nine years ago, the first Irish Pub Tour de Shore took place with only 20 riders biking across the Ben Franklin Bridge to Atlantic City. Since then, the annual ride has grown to nearly 4,500 riders, volunteers, organizers and supporters.

Those planning to participate this year should hurry to register, since space is currently limited. Plus, all riders must raise a minimum of $175 by July 1 to participate.

Those who want a ride back to Philly, or want to send their bike back to Philly while they party, must opt into the bus service during Tour de Shore registration.

The after-party at Atlantic City's Irish Pub is free for participants, but friends and family can attend with a $20 donation.

Packet pick-up information will be emailed to each participate a few weeks before Tour de Shore.
