Little Lion celebrates its first Thanksgiving this year.

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner can be a big production. It takes a lot of work to get the turkey, multiple sides and dessert just right.  

This year, leave the work to the professionals and opt to dine out. Some restaurants are also offering pickup for the occasion, for those who still want to gather 'round their own table.

Fette Sau

Update Nov. 14: Turkey is now sold out, but sides are still available.

Those looking to pick up Thanksgiving dinner can head to Fette Sau, located on Frankford Avenue. 

The Thanksgiving package options are as follows:

• "Full Spread" - including turkey, gravy, stuffing with hot Italian sausage, sweet potato mash and green beans with pearl onions for $240 (feeds 10-12)
• "Turkey + Gravy" for $95 (feeds 10-12)
• Stuffing with hot Italian sausage for $60 (feeds 10)
• Green beans with pearl onions for $55 (feeds 10)
• Sweet potato mash for $35 (feeds 10)

The orders must be picked up no later than Wednesday, Nov. 23. Either order in the restaurant at 1208 Frankford Ave. or call (215) 391-4888.


Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar

Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar is celebrating “Sidesgiving.”


Thanksgiving 2016 becomes "Sidesgiving" at Harvest this year. The restaurant is offering take-home side dishes for Thanksgiving dinner. 

Harvest’s "Sidesgiving" menu items can be picked up anytime on Tuesday, Nov. 22 (or arrangements can be made to pick them up earlier in the week if unable to come that date). All sides come pre-cooked, ready to reheat at home, with instructions. 

All orders can be placed over the phone. Harvest has multiple locations, including 200 S. 40th St. in University City (215-662-1100) and 555 Lancaster Ave. in Radnor, PA (484-584-4975).

The restaurant is accepting holiday pre-orders for its beloved breads, plus seasonal pies.

Turkeys will be available in three size ranges: 12-15 lbs, 15-20 lbs and 20-25 lbs. The birds will be $5.50 per lb.

The Fairmount restaurant will serve a traditional Thanksgiving buffet that includes:

Mac Mart, a speciality mac & cheese spot, will be taking holiday tray orders through Monday, Nov. 21. The holiday menu includes many of the store's mac & cheese favorites, including In the Buff, Marts Mac, Jalapeno Popper and BBQ in a Bowl.

All orders will be ready for pick up on Nov. 21-23 at the Rittenhouse store, located at 104 S. 18th Street, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.


Red Owl Tavern 

Guests to this Old City restaurant will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on the holiday. A Pennsylvania free-range turkey will be served with whipped potatoes, haricot verts, root vegetable stuffing, country gravy, cranberry relish and honey-butter biscuits.

Rittenhouse Square’s newest modern Italian restaurant will be serving a four-course prix-fixe menu accompanied by a limited à la carte menu. The holiday menu includes dishes like the pancetta-wrapped turkey, served with cipollini onions, Brussels sprouts and autumn vegetables; chestnut soup garnished with parsnip, celery root and cranberry; pumpkin "half-moon" pasta served with an amaretto cookie; and pumpkin cheesecake topped with five-spice pineapple mousse and port-glazed grapes.

This Old City restaurant will offer a special holiday menu and will be open for takeout and catering orders. Takeout and catering run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the bar opens at noon, and dinner service starts at 2 p.m. 

Thanksgiving dinner will be served family style and is $39.95 per person.

Every year, The Twisted Tail hosts a huge family-style Thanksgiving dinner.
