Torrey Smith picks up adoption fees for 46 cats and dogs at Baltimore animal shelter

Torrey Smith moved up I-95 from Baltimore to Philly, but just because he’s an Eagle now, the Maryland product hasn’t stopped giving back to his former home.

According to BARCS Animal Shelter, Smith and Chanel didn’t just attend a fundraiser for the city’s “homeless, neglected and abused animals” on Saturday night. They paid the adoption fee for 46 cats and dogs and made an extra donation on top of those adoption fees:

And as it turned out, Drew Rosenhaus matched Smith’s donation:

According to this 2013 article on the Ravens team website, Smith adopted two dogs from the shelter and “had donations sent to them in lieu of wedding gifts.” The Eagles lost a player known for his work in the community this past offseason when Connor Barwin went to Los Angeles, but it seems like Smith might be able to fill his own niche.
