Two Chesco residents arrested under new animal fighting law

Police seize 12 pit bull terriers suspected of being trained for dog fights

Two Chester County residents will be the first people charged under a new state law that makes it illegal to possess animal fighting paraphernalia, the Daily Local reports, citing the Chester County SPCA.

Chester County SPCA Humane police officers executed a search warrant late Thursday night at a Parkesburg residence after State Probation and Parole agents reported finding animal fighting equipment during a routine check of an offender.

Humane police seized five adult pit bull terriers and seven pit bull terrier puppies after discovering two large dog treadmills, anabolic steroid injectable liquids, syringes, weighted vests and printed propaganda promoting dogfighting.

The dogs, some of which had scars on their faces and bodies, were taken to the SPCA. They will be held until they are available for adoption.

The names of the alleged offenders have not been released.
