A suspect is dead following an exchange of gunfire with two Camden County police officers in Camden Tuesday evening, authorities say.

According to CBSPhilly, the incident stemmed from a 911 call on reports of possible domestic violence and a possibly armed male suspect at a home on the 3200 block of Rutledge Walk in Camden around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities told CBSPhilly that officers reported to the scene, at which time gunfire was exchanged, and the suspect, an unidentified male in his 20s, was struck and later died of his injuries at Cooper University Hospital.

The officers, who also have not been identified, have been placed on administrative leave while the county prosecutor’s office investigates the incident.
