Two children among four struck by driver in West Philadelphia

Victims taken to area hospitals as crash remains under investigation

Philadelphia police are investigating after four people – a women, a teen and two children – were struck by a driver in West Philadelphia Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say the accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4900 block of Parkside Avenue as the 25-year-old woman, teen girl, six-year-old and two-year-old child were walking along the road, 6ABC reports.

Police said the vehicle remained at the scene, but provided no further information about the driver.

Both children were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to be treated for their injuries, which did not appear to be life-threatening, according to police.

The 25-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where the latter was listed in critical condition.

There was no information about the status of the teen.

According to NBC 10, family members of the victims said they were planning to attend a 75th birthday party for their grandmother at the time of the accident.

The crash is under investigation by the Accident Investigation District.
