Two suspects sought for attacking female deli worker, 60, over cost of sandwich

Police are asking the public for assistance Wednesday identifying two men who assaulted a female employee of a Southwest Philadelphia deli.

The beating, which was captured on surveillance video, occurred Jan. 4 around 4:30 p.m. at the Daylight Deli located at 7001 Elmwood Avenue in the city's Eastwick neighborhood.

Authorities said two men entered the store and began arguing with a 60-year-old female worker over the price of a sandwich. When the employee told them to leave the store, one suspect punched her several times before the pair fled the scene on foot.

The victim sustained bruising and swelling to the left side of her face.

Police describe the suspect who attacked the woman as a 20-year-old black man with a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a hoodie, a dark vest and dark pants. The second suspect is a 20-year-old black man with braids, wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Southwest Detective Division at (215) 686-3183/3184.
