Turkish Silk Scarf Penn Museum/PhillyVoice

Use Turkish marbling to create a unique silk scarf at the Penn Museum.

The Penn Museum will host a hands-on workshop June 23. Artist and musician Richard Aldorasi will instruct the class on Turkish marbling.

Attendees will use the technique to create wearable art. Each participant will go home with a silk scarf, customized by their own colorful design.

While working on the project, Aldorasi will provide a history lesson on the 15th-century Turkish art of "ebru" or marbling.

The class costs $45 per person and includes the lesson, scarf and one drink (wine, beer or soda).
