View a Shakespeare play in Laurel Hill Cemetery

Here's a clue to which play: 'Off with his head!'

For two weekends in July, Laurel Hill Cemetery and The Mechanical Theater will present Shakespeare's historical play "Richard III."  The first performance will be on July 15 and the last will be on July 23. All four performances take place at 7:30 p.m. in the graveyard.

The plot begins with King Edward IV's younger brother, Richard, resentful of his brother's power. Richard's secret desire is to sit on the throne himself. As a malicious, power-hungry and bitter man, Richard decides to kill anyone he has to in order to become king.

Attendees should bring blankets, beach chairs, picnics and beverages for the theater show. Tickets are $20 per person or $17 for members.

Check-in takes place at Laurel Hill Cemetery’s Gatehouse, with free parking located in the lot across the street.

Rain has been an issue for outdoor events all season, so if there are showers, the rain dates will be July 17 and July 24.
