Watch: Mayor Nutter performs 'Rapper's Delight,' again

Nutter grabbed the mic on the parkway last night, but this wasn't the first time

Mayor Michael Nutter is having quite a last year in office. The Pope is coming in September, Obama is coming in just a couple of weeks, and thousands were on hand to celebrate the Fourth of July for the mayor's final Party on the Parkway.

Nutter certainly didn't let his final Independence Day celebration as the city's top official go out without a bang. After Ceelo Green's surprise performance with The Roots, Nutter grabbed the mic and gave an impressively well-rehearsed rendition of The Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight."

Luckily, 6 ABC's Action News camera was there to capture the moment:

The best part is, this isn't the first time Philly's mayor has navigated his way through the verses of the 1979 rap classic. Here he is in 2010 at Mitchell & Ness in Center City for a charity event, via HughE Dillon of Philly Chit Chat:

And here he is again, in 2010 at Time in Center city:

And again, shortly after taking office in 2008:

So for those of you who witnessed the mayor's performance last night, you shouldn't be surprised. Nutter knows that song pretty well.
