An Excessive Heat Warning has been put in effect for the region on Sunday and Monday as high temperatures and humidity continue to bear down on the region.
The warning will remain in effect from noon on Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday, as heat index values could reach as high as 100 to 105 degrees. The highest heat index values are expected during the early to late afternoon hours.
People in the region are urged to take extra precautions if working or spending time outside. If possible, it's best to reschedule outdoor activities to the morning or evening hours. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles for any reason.
An Air Quality Alert is in effect for Philadelphia Metro Area on Sunday, meaning that air pollution concentrations may become unhealthy for sensitive groups including children, those with asthma, heart or lung diseases, and the elderly.
