Wegmans recalls chicken produced without inspection

Wegmans Food Markets has issued a recall of approximately 1,125 pounds of chicken products that were produced without a federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Tuesday.

The vacuum-sealed packages with the establishment number "EST or P-7567" inside the USDA mark of inspection were produced on Sunday.

They were sold in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia.

The following products are subject to recall:

• Approximately 1-pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of Jan. 24, 2016.

• Approximately 1-pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of Jan. 15, 2016.

• 3-pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster” with a use-by date of Jan. 13, 2016.

• 1-pound vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482” with a use-by date of Jan. 13, 2016.

According to the USDA, there have been no reports of anyone getting sick as a result of consumption. However, consumers are urged to return the products for a full refund.
