Westboro Baptist Church to protest Beau Biden's funeral

A church known for protesting the funerals of soldiers and fierce opposition to homosexuality will picket before Beau Biden is laid to rest Saturday morning.

The Westboro Baptist Church said they plan to protest the funeral of Biden, who served a tour in Iraq as a part of the Delaware National Guard.

A press release from the church attack's Beau's father, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, for teaching his son "to worship and serve Joe’s favorite idols: american military, perverse catholic monstrosity, and political office/trappings; and lifting up his human-powerful mouth and hand against the servants of the Most High God at Westboro Baptist Church."

According to Delaware Online, the group also protested the first same-sex marriages in the state back in 2013. Executive director of the Delaware Republican Party John Fluharty, who is openly gay and supports same-sex marriage,  told the publication that the planned pickets were "horrifying."

"Beau Biden served his country with honor and distinction and for anybody to question that or use it to serve their personal agenda in a negative fashion is absolutely despicable. They are entitled to their freedom of speech, I"m also entitled to be disgusted."
The protesters plan to arrive an hour before the services for the former state Attorney General begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua in Wilmington. President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy for Beau Biden, who died of brain cancer on May 30.
