Philadelphia police are seeking the gunman responsible for a shooting that occurred on Tuesday at about 6:33 p.m. on the 2100 block of N. Eighth St. in North Philadelphia.

According to Sgt. John Massi of the Philadelphia Police's 26th District, officers heard gunshots and responded to that block to find a crowd surrounding a 21-year-old woman who had been shot twice - once in the buttocks and once in her right leg.

She was transported to Temple University Hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

Also, Massi said that a firearm and shell casing were recovered from the scene of the incident.

According to Massi, police are looking for a suspect described as a black male with a stocky build in his mid-20s. Massi said the suspected gunman is about 5 feet 8 inches tall with facial hair and, at the time of the shooting, he was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.
