America's oldest brewery has begun a sponsorship with the Philadelphia Phillies – the team's first new beer sponsor in about 40 years.

D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc.'s logo for its traditional lager will appear on the team's outfield wall sign, on a digital sign and on an in-stadium sign as part of a multiyear agreement, according to a news release from the 190-year-old Pottsville brewery on Friday.

The sponsorship agreement between the two will begin Friday during the Phillies' home opener against the Washington Nationals. First pitch is at 3:05 p.m.

“Phillies Baseball and beer are two of my passions," said Dick Yuengling, owner and president. "So we are thrilled to partner with one of the iconic teams in our home state. Watching America’s favorite pastime while enjoying a Yuengling Traditional Lager from America’s Oldest Brewery is what brings fans together.”

Yuengling's Traditional Lager, Light Lager and its Black & Tan brands have previously been made available at Citizens Bank Park in 16- and 24-ounce cans as well as on draft.

The three brands underwent a package redesign last month, the traditional lager's first label makeover in 30 years.

The company also secured the No. 1 ranking in the Brewers Association's "Top 50 U.S. Craft Brewers 2016" – Yuengling's third year in a row in the top spot.
