Drexel President John Fry called for the encampment to disband; organizers disputed Fry's claims that administrators reached out to protesters directly.

The Kimmel Center plans to replace Volvér with a new restaurant this fall

Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, the new concessions operator for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts, plans to replace the Kimmel Center's main restaurant this fall. The current restaurant, Volvér, was created by Jose Garces, but is closing this summer. RHC also is taking over the cafe space left vacant by Garces Trading Co. in January.

A week after police swept a pro-Palestinian encampment on Penn's campus, a group of protesters attempted to occupy the school's Fisher-Bennett Hall building. After police arrested 19 protesters and secured the building, a demonstration formed on 34th Street, extending to the site of an alumni event.

Northern Liberties Night Market returns with food trucks and beer gardens

The first NoLibs nighttime food and drink fest will feature 23 food spots and 50 vendors, along with live music, entertainment and a kids zone. Local taps featured this year include Standard Tap, El Camino Real, Joe & Kay’s, Urban Village Brewing Co. and North Bowl, while food offerings include pierogies, pizza and tacos.

Shooting in Delaware County leaves one juvenile killed, another injured

The shooting in Delaware County took place on Friday afternoon. One juvenile had a gunshot wound to the torso while the other was shot in the foot. EMS units took both victims to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where the juvenile with the torso wound died from his injury.

3 people charged in alleged assault of off-duty police officer in North Philly; Another suspect remains on the run

Three people wanted for the alleged assault of an off-duty Philadelphia police officer are now in custody. Cian Dennis, Yusef Coleman and Khamil Brown have all been charged; police are still searching for Arthur Jones, 38. Officer Eric Rodriguez was allegedly assaulted as he returned home from work on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Man who escaped from Philly police caught in Northern Liberties by U.S. Marshals

Nafiysh Knox-Schenck, 32, was apprehended Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service at a condominium complex in Northern Liberties. He had fled from a Philadelphia police vehicle Monday after he was arrested for alleged firearms violations.
