Starbucks will close its doors on Tuesday to train its employees in racial bias — and the world has deemed it A Day Without Starbucks.
Philly cafes are taking advantage of the day by providing an opportunity for some thoughtful conversation — and black-owned coffee shop alternatives — to keep this thing going.
A group of black coffee shop owners is hosting a roundtable called #CoffeeWhileBlack to encourage coffee drinkers to patronize their businesses instead of Starbucks, even after it reopens.
The roundtable will morph into a tour of two other black-owned coffee shops, too. Here's all the information you need on the event.
And if you can't physically attend, Essence will be livestreaming it.
