"Black Panther" could become the first superhero movie nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards.

To kick off Black History Month, "Black Panther" is returning to the big screen for the first week in February, playing in AMC theaters for absolutely free.

From Feb. 1-7, Disney has scheduled "Black Panther," the first superhero film ever to be nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards, to play at 250 different AMC theaters across the country, including the AMC in Plymouth Meeting and Philadelphia Mills.

Tickets are free for all, plus during February, Disney is donating $1.5 million to the United Negro College Fund that helps award scholarships to minority students.

In addition to the film's nomination for next month's Oscars, "Black Panther" – which grossed $700 million nationally – was the unexpected winner at last weekend's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“‘Black Panther’ is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success,” said Bob Iger, chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.

“The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of ‘Black Panther’ in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences, and to support UNCF with a $1.5 million grant to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.”

The specific showtimes haven't yet been announced locally, but viewers can expect two screenings a day for the week. Check here for a full list of all participating AMC theaters and to reserve your free tickets.
