Credit card info breached at Philly, Atlantic City restaurants

Hackers' program compromised cardholders' info, restaurant groups says

Customers who used a credit card to pay for their meal at several area restaurants are being asked to closely monitor their accounts for fraudulent activity after the company that manages them announced a data breach.

Landry's restaurant group announced Friday the results of a report from a private cyber security firm they hired after receiving a tip about suspicious activity regarding the legitimate use of cards at several of their locations.

The firm found that hackers installed a program on their payment system that gathered personal information from credit card users at their restaurants. The information the program was designed to obtain included the cardholder's name, the card number, expiration date and the internal verification number.

As a result, Landry's has beefed up security measures regarding its payment system and is working to try and find potentially affected cards from the program.

In the meantime, the restaurant group is asking customers who used a credit card during certain time periods at specific locations to closely monitor their statements for unauthorized purchases.

Here are the local restaurants that were impacted, as well as the time periods the restaurants' payment systems were hacked:

Chart House, Philadelphia: 5/8/2014 to 3/14/2015 and 5/8/2015 to 11/19/2015

• McCormick & Schmick's, Philadelphia: 5/9/2014 to 3/14/2015 and 5/8/2015 to12/3/2015

Morton's, Philadelphia: 5/10/2014 to 3/14/2015 and 5/8/2015 to 12/3/2015

• Golden Nugget, Atlantic City: Parking -- 6/19/2015, Banquets -- 5/5/2015 to 12/3/2015, Spa & Salon -- 5/4/2014 to 12/3/2015

McCormick & Schmick's, Cherry Hill: 5/31/2014

• Vic & Anthony's at Golden Nugget Casino, Atlantic City: 5/5/2015 to 12/3/2015

• Rainforest Cafe, Atlantic City: 5/8/2015 to 12/3/2015
