"Cruel Intentions" stars Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.

Before we obsessed over "the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite" on the CW's hit "Gossip Girl" TV series, we first became enthralled with rich New York City high schoolers behaving badly by watching the late-'90s movie "Cruel Intentions."

The teen classic, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair, turns 20 this March (!) and has remained a pop culture fixture. How can anyone hear the notes of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" and not think of the "Cruel Intentions" ending?
