A 'Christmas Corndog' is coming to town

Pop-up event to feature festive fried food

A pop-up collaboration will bring the "Christmas Corndog" and the "Hanukkah Corndog" to Fishtown's Garage on Dec. 28.

Fox & Son Fancy Corn Dogs, a new food stand coming to Reading Terminal Market in spring 2017, worked with Food Underground's Ari Miller to create the menu.

The Hanukkah-inspired corndog will be latke-battered and served with Manischewitz applesauce. The Christmas creation will have a sweet potato batter and a cranberry mustard aioli.

For dessert, there will be a "Krembo Duo." It's a shortbread cookie with flavored marshmallow cream, coated in chocolate. As for beverages, there will be $4 cans from Sly Fox. The Black Raspberry Reserve and Christmas Ale will be available.

The event starts at 6 p.m. All of the proceeds from food sales at the pop-up will be donated to CookForSyria, which is a countrywide fundraising campaign focused on raising money to aid UNICEF’s Syria Relief fund.

Those who like the festive corndogs can expect more unique creations once Fox & Son opens. Besides the main fried food (which will have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options), the stand will feature specialty poutines, Birchrun Hill Farm cheese curds and baked potatoes.
