A police officer was injured after his vehicle crashed into a pole early Saturday morning, according to reports.

CBSPhilly reports the accident occurred around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Bryn Mawr and Parkside avenues.

The officer swerved to avoid hitting an animal and struck a pole, according to the news station.

According to NBC10, the 45-year-old officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital to be treated for minor injuries from the crash.

The officer was on his way to assist another officer when the accident happened, the news station reports.
