Philadelphia Film Society launches seven new programs

New Signature Series at the Roxy Theater debuts

The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) wants to create a film festival experience year-round at the Roxy Theater with the new Signature Series.

There are seven new programs to choose from:

First Look is premiere screenings of brand new titles.
Passport to World Cinema is premiere screenings of the best international titles.
Family Matinees show contemporary and classic films. Tickets for children 12 years and younger cost $1 and adults are $5 during this program.
Rerun revisits stand-out titles from the past five years.
From the Vaults pulls films from significant eras and shares director's insight.
BYO Series lets guests bring beer or wine to toast nostalgic hits and misses from the '80s, '90s and today.
The Graveyard Shift shows late-night new and retro horror, action or suspense for fans of all things scary, gory, campy and kooky.

A large selection of the Signature Series screenings will include interactive discussions with special guests, such as film critics, scholars and filmmakers following the films.

In addition, PFS is celebrating the Philadelphia Film Festival's 25th anniversary this year by including festival alumni titles and selections from 1991.

The Signature Series will begin on Friday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m with a special showcase screening. Pay-what-you-wish to attend an exhibition supporting new work by up-and-coming local filmmakers. There will also be a selection of shorts, followed by a Q&A.

Head to the opening event at 7 p.m. for a free drink before the event.
