South Jersey police find heroin in baby crib during search

Police in South Jersey arrested a man and a woman following a search of a residence that uncovered drugs, the Monroe Township Police Department announced.

A search warrant stemming from a narcotics investigation was conducted on Friday at a house on the 1700 block of Red Oak Road in Williamstown, N.J.

As a result of the search, authorities found 29 bags of heroin, 24 prescription pills and drug paraphernalia, which included digital scales, unused bags used for packaging drugs and 40 unused heroin wax folds. A total of $858 in cash was also seized.

Police also found used drugs on the floor of a bedroom where an infant child slept. In the crib, three pink wax folds containing heroin were discovered.

Antonio Hedgepeth II, 23, and Jessica Ayers, 20, were arrested at the residence.

Hedgepeth and Ayers were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, distrubution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of prescription legend drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hedgepeth was also wanted for a violation of probation and had multiple warrants in Gloucester County.

The Division of Child Protection and Permanency is cooperating in the investigation.
