Drake postpones show in Philadelphia due to ankle injury

For the second time this week, a world-renowned rapper has postponed a show in Philadelphia.

Drake announced on his October's Very Best blog Wednesday afternoon that an ankle injury has forced him to postpone next Thursday's performance at Wells Fargo Center. The show is part of his Summer Sixteen Tour.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night," Drake wrote.

The Philly show is one of three shows that will be postponed. Performances in Toronto, his hometown, and Newark, New Jersey, were also affected. Shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will take place as scheduled two nights before the Philly show.

The rapper said he was "crushed" to postpone the shows, praising Philly fans in a "city that was one of the loudest and showed me much love."

However, Drake offered fans hope that the show would be rescheduled. "I promise I will make it up to you. Thank you for your understanding and I can't wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle," Drake concluded.

Drake last performed in Philly on Aug. 21 at Wells Fargo Center.

Earlier this week, Kanye West postponed his concert in Philly after his wife, Kim Kardashian West, was the victim of an armed robbery in Paris.
