As part of an ongoing effort to improve safety and service, SEPTA Regional Rail will operate on updated schedules beginning this week.
The transit agency announced Thursday that the new timetables will affect weekday trains on all 14 Regional Rail lines. The schedules are effective as of Sunday, however, "Saturday and Sunday service will operate as currently scheduled," SEPTA's website reads.
The changes are the second round of adjustments made as part of SEPTA's Regional Rail Service Improvement Program, which focuses on installing Positive Train Control and alleviating congestion.
Riders will notice that selected trains will depart stations a couple minutes earlier or later than previously scheduled. Shifts of longer than 10 minutes have been applied on two trains on the Cynwyd Line, two trains on the Paoli/Thorndale Line and one train on the Wilmington/Newark Line. Other changes include trains adding or subtracting stops at certain stations along the lines.
SEPTA officials warn riders that the agency will not provide printed versions of the new schedules. The previous adjustment went into effect Dec. 11 and another is planned on April 9 so transit officials decided only posting digital versions of the changes was the "best way to be fiscally and environmentally responsible while still being responsive to your need for information."
