Pennsylvania's Supreme Court announced on Wednesday it is halting the release of a report detailing widespread sexual abuse and misconduct by priests and it's not yet clear why.
The Supreme Court didn't immediately explain the reason for the order, but it bars Grand Supervisor Judge Norman Krumenacker and Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro from releasing the report without the highest court's permission.
Shapiro released a statement immediately following the announcement, saying his team "will continue fighting tirelessly to make sure the victims of this abuse are able to tell their stories and the findings of the investigation are made public to the people of Pennsylvania."
This report is said to detail a two-year investigation that includes six of the state's eight dioceses. Priest abuse in Philadelphia is not included, but has been previously documented.
