2nd teen involved in Overbrook shooting death has surrendered

The second suspect involved in the shooting death of a man in the Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia last week has surrendered.

The family of the suspect, 15-year-old Tyfine Hamilton, told CBS 3 Eyewitness News the boy turned himself into Philadelphia Police around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Police believed he is the one who pulled the trigger that killed 51-year-old James Stuhlman who was walking his dog on March 12 on the 6400 block of Woodcrest Avenue, a block from his house, when he was approached by the three teenagers. 

They pursued Stuhlman with the intent to rob him. An altercation ensued, a gun was discharged and Stuhlman was struck in the upper right chest by a bullet.

According to Philly.com, investigators recovered surveillance video from the area, not far from the Overbrook home of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. Homicide Capt. James Clark stated that Stuhlman pleaded for his life before he was shot. The suspects did not take any of his belongings.

Philadelphia police arrested the first suspect, Brandon Smith, 15, of the 1800 block of N. 66th St., on Thursday.

Both teens have been charged him murder and robbery related to the death of 51-year-old James Stuhlman on March 12.

The third 14-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with lesser offenses, PhillyMag.com reports.  

Police responded to a radio call regarding a "person with a gun." The responding officers discovered Stuhlman and took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m.

According to 6 ABC, police later searched a home where two of the suspects, both students at Overbrook High School, resided and recovered numerous assault rifles and hand guns.

Anyone with information on Tyfine’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3134, or dial 911. There is a $20,000 reward for his arrest and conviction in the case.
