Pittsburgh man wedges himself between buildings after failed attempt to impress a girl

Crews worked for more than three hours to free him from his miscalculated leap.

Pittsburgh safety officials worked for more than three hours Tuesday morning to free a man who trapped himself between two buildings after he tried to jump across them to impress a girl he just met.

Now, it looks like he's earned a bit of Twitter fame – see: #PittSpiderman.

The man, who isn't being identified but is believed to be a University of Pittsburgh student, took the leap around 2 a.m. after bringing his lady friend up to the roof of a Forbes Avenue building in Pittsburgh's Oakland section. He wasn't freed until about 6 a.m., according to KDKA-TV

“We had people on the roof. One of the paramedics did rappel down three stories to render assistance and also provide us some landmarks as to where he was. Once the paramedic was there we reassessed where he was and cut the second hole,” Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich told the station.

Officials were forced to drill a hole in a Qdoba restaurant to secure his freedom.

The man looks to be OK – the news station is reporting that he has an injured ankle. No word on how his female friend is feeling, however.

Social media users were a bit more vocal with their feelings:
