Delco man charged with third-degree murder for shooting friend

Roger J. McBride claims the victim's was accidental

A Delaware County man was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter for allegedly shooting a friend in what he claims was an accident, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Roger J. McBride, 31, of Eddystone, was arrested Sunday after he allegedly killed Jamie Vincent by putting a gun on her forehead and pulling the trigger. Police found the woman lying on her back in the living room with a gunshot wound to the head. McBride was sitting at the dining room table and told police the shooting was an accident, saying he did not know the gun was loaded.

Witnesses told police that McBride was playing with the .45 caliber handgun when the shooting occurred.

McBride is being held without bail at Delaware County Prison. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 25.
