Man threatens to bomb N.J. courthouse, leads police and feds on chase

Suspect eventually crashed Lexus in Penndel

Police in Bucks County have arrested a man who threatened to blow up a New Jersey courthouse Tuesday before leading police on a chase through Bucks County and crashing his car in Penndel.

According to the Bucks County Courier Times, 36-year-old Jermaine McCain, of Trenton, was sought by the U.S. Marshall's Office after a phoning in a threat to blow up an unnamed New Jersey courthouse, Bensalem police said.

Police and federal authorities began to pursue McCain Tuesday night Bensalem and continued to track him through Middletown before he eventually crashed his Lexus in Penndel.

Officials said that McCain made the threat against the courthouse because he claimed he was unable to show up for an appearance on unrelated charges that police did not disclose.

Bucks County officials have not indicated whether McCain will be charged for the crash in Penndel or another crash on Route 1. In the meantime, Bensalem police confirmed he has been arraigned and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
