On the market: Four ridiculously deluxe bathrooms

Marble, marble and more marble

Real Estate Bathrooms
Paoli bathroom Contributed Art/Foxroach.com

The master bathroom of a Paoli home that's on the market for $1,399,000.

The bathroom is a modest room. Some homeowners might splurge on a nice tile floor, but generally they don't want their money flowing down the drain of a clawfoot tub.

Not so for the owners of these homes, who demand the highest standards of luxury when going about their gastrointestinal business. Peek into the bathrooms below and you’ll say that they are, truly, number one.

1. A real classy joint in Ventnor, $4,699,000

If you're going to buy a Jersey Shore pleasure palace for nearly five million bucks, you better go all out. Marble floors, marble walls, marble tub – all this marble would get a little monotonous if it weren't for the stained-glass windows. Fun fact: this house was the setting for Wise Guys, a 1980s comedy starring Danny DeVito about two low-level mobsters in Atlantic City.

2. A funky Master Bathroom in Paoli, $1,399,000

The master bathroom in this elegant, five-bedroom Upper Main Line home features a unique air-jetted tub ringed with beautiful green-gray marble. Note also the double vanities and the funky square pattern on the accent wall.

3. Living wildly in New Hope, $1,095,000

You can question this home seller's taste for animal prints -- that tiger-print couch on top of a leopard-print rug in the living room? Really? -- but you cannot question their taste in bathrooms. Once again marble wins the day, but in this case it's a lovely shade of soft, speckled gray.

4. Soaking it all in – in North Wales, $474,000

Ceramic Tile Bathroom

Whether you prefer a quick shower or a long, relaxing soak in the tub, this bathroom in a four-bedroom Colonial is perfect. Ceramic tile circles both the tub and the enormous glass shower, while the lovely light-blue wall brings relaxing color into the room. Not seen in the picture: an overhead skylight that brings in plenty of natural light.
