Philadelphia ranks a top city for coffee fanatics

Crazy about your morning cup of coffee? You're in a pretty good spot for it, according to one recent study.

SmartAsset, a personal finance website, put together its list of "Best Cities for Coffee Fanatics" on Tuesday, and Philadelphia ranked fairly high.

While Seattle found itself in the No. 1 spot (surprise, surprise), Philly came in at No. 20 – tied with New York City and above Scottsdale, Arizona.

The website ranked 100 cities based on a number of factors, including accessibility to cafes, coffee shops and roasters in each area and the drink's affordability. Percentage of highly rated coffee shops, Google searches and data from the Census Bureau’s 2014 Business Patterns Survey were also considered.

According to the data, Philly has 1,360 coffee shops, with 87 coffee shops per 100,000 residents. The average cost of a cappuccino is $3.55.

Philly is home to popular coffee spots, like Rival Bros Coffee, Elixr Coffee Roasters and La Colombe Coffee Roasters.

La Colombe is planning a nationwide expansion this year. Saxbys, which started in Philadelphia in 2005, has since expanded to nine states, too.
