Police: Woman slashes housekeeper's neck with box cutter at Philly motel

Investigators say incident stemmed from an argument that broke out overnight

Philadelphia police have taken a woman into custody after she allegedly slashed a housekeeper's neck with a box cutter at a motel in North Philadelphia.

According to authorities, the incident stemmed from an argument inside the Liberty Motel on the 3200 block of Germantown Avenue, NBC 10 reports. Police say an argument broke out overnight between the 50-year-old suspect and the victim, a 52-year-old housekeeper.

In the course of the argument, police say the suspect pulled out a large silver box cutter and sliced the left side of the victim's neck, creating a large laceration.

Investigators say the suspect then chased the victim through the motel lobby with the box cutter before exiting the building.

At approximately 3 a.m., police responded to the scene and arrested the suspect without incident upon spotting her walking northbound on Germantown Avenue.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

No charges have been announced and the identities of the suspect and the victim have not been released.
