Philadelphia will celebrate its inaugural Day of Kindness on October 27.

Halloween may be a time of mischief, but in Philadelphia, the holiday of trickery will come on the heels of a day devoted to kindness.

On Oct. 27, Philadelphia will celebrate A Day of Kindness inspired by the upcoming visits by Pope Francis on Sept. 26-27 and the Dalai Lama on Oct. 26-27.

"The visits of these two global icons will be the inspiration for a 30-day period of programs and activities dedicated to bringing more kindness into our communities," the website reads.

The day's events will include an art installation called "Love and Kindness in the Wind," which will consist of thousands of handcrafted flags made by people throughout the city carrying messages of hope, peace, love and kindness.
