Report: Eagles fire three from scouting department

In what is essentially the equivalent of firing an accountant on April 16th, the Eagles have sent three members of their scouting department packing, according to Les Bowen of the Daily News.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, Patch, Mueller, and Obee were informed that they would be let go yesterday.

Firing members of the personnel department a day after the draft concludes may seem heartless, but it is common practice in the NFL. It is not necessarily indicative that the Eagles are unhappy with their draft haul.

The Eagles didn't hire VP of Player Personnel Ed Marynowitz until January 29th, which was after the Senior Bowl and draft preparations were already well underway. It was likely a necessity to keep Patch, Mueller and Obee aboard to keep them from revealing the team's plans to others. The Eagles will likely surround themselves with scouts who Chip Kelly and Marynowitz hand pick, as opposed to personnel people who formerly reported to former GM Howie Roseman.

According to Jeff McLane of the Inquirer, more heads could roll soonWe'll update as the Eagles' front office continues to change.
