The Matt Barkley era in Philly is over.

The Eagles finally found someone to trade for Matt Barkley. Somehow. According to a report from Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Cardinals are sending a conditional seventh-round pick to the Eagles for the former fourth round pick out of USC.

According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, the Eagles only get a 7th round pick if Barkley is on the Cardinals' roster for six games. If not, they don't get squat. Here's an updated view of the Eagles' draft picks in 2016:

 RoundHow acquired
 1Eagles' own pick
 3Eagles own pick
3Acquired from Lions for 2015 4th round pick
 4Eagles' own pick
5Acquired from Steelers for Brandon Boykin. Can become a 4th round pick if Boykin plays 60% of the Steelers' snaps in 2015.
 5Eagles' own pick
 6Eagles' own pick
 7Eagles' own pick
7Acquired from Cardinals for Matt Barkley, if Barkley is on the roster for six games.

The Eagles traded up in the 2013 draft to take Barkley with the first pick in the fourth round, but he never developed into the quarterback they thought he could be. Barkley simply did not have an NFL arm, and his other attributes weren't good enough to mask that serious deficiency. The Eagles have been trying to trade Barkley for over a year.

Barkley once challenged me to some sort of weird quarterback competition, which I accepted.

Sadly, that will probably never happen. The Eagles are now left with Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, and yep... Tim Tebow.
