Police are looking to identify and locate the suspect who robbed an Advanced Auto Parts in Southwest Philadelphia.

Police are seeking the public's help in finding a suspect wanted for a robbery in Southwest Philadelphia.

In a surveillance video released Wednesday by police, an unknown male suspect can be seen entering the Advanced Auto Parts at 2210 Island Avenue on Aug. 14 at 8:52 p.m.

The suspect walks behind the register where he pulls out a black handgun from his waistband and tells the employee to "open the register."

The employee then leads the suspect to the rear of the store where another employee had been counting money. Police say the suspect then stated, "I need the money more than you do."

He took a total of $2,500 from the desk and drawer and then fled toward Woodland Ave on the Darby side.

Police describe the suspect as a 5-foot-8-inch, clean-shaven black male, late 20s to early 30s, with a medium build, blue jeans, blue T-shirt with white writing on it, red sneakers and a black handgun.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847).
