Several people injured as SEPTA Regional Rail trains collide in North Philly

A SEPTA regional rail train between Philadelphia's 30th Street Station and Suburban Station.

At least five people were injured on Tuesday afternoon when a pair of SEPTA Regional Rail trains made contact in North Philadelphia.

Police said the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. along the 900 block of West Berks Street near Temple University Station.

Two trains traveling southbound toward Center City made minor contact with each other, according to authorities.

Five passengers aboard train number 820 sustained minor injuries and were transported to Temple University Hospital. Others were being evaluated by medics at the scene.

There was no additional information provided and a SEPTA investigation is underway.
