The 2014 Philadelphia Natural Hair Show.

Whether you're looking to share your hair wisdom with friends or in need of a little inspiration, there will be plenty of opportunities to swap secrets and learn new ones at The 3rd Annual Philadelphia Natural Hair Show Saturday, May 2. The full day of events includes everything from product exhibitions and discussion panels to hands-on how-to's and live music.

The theme of this year's show is "Nourishing Our Roots," so activities are focused on hair, body, mind and spirit. Attendees will learn all about natural hair care, like how to promote growth and prevent breakage, from brands like Luster Products Inc., Dark and Lovely Au Naturale and Flori Roberts Cosmetics. Karen Tappin, the owner and founder of Karen’s Body Beautiful, will lead a "Real Hair Talk." Natural hair bloggers will lead two more talks: Naptural Nicole, of NapturalNicole.com, will present "Natural Hair 101," and Marisa Peal of OrganixLocs.com will lead "The Science of Natural Hair."

Professional stylists from Island Design and ALTernative Haircare will lead styling workshops. Plus, style expert Braided Barbie will teach a hands-on crochet technique workshop; tickets are already going fast for the popular personality's class.

Of course, crowds will also be sure to turn out for a performance by R&B artist Vivian Green. The Philly native's claims to fame include co-writing a song for Boyz II Men at just 17 years old, a gold-certified debut album and appearances in the Oscar-nominated film "De-Lovely" and TV's "American Dreams." Her new single "Get Right Back To My Baby" dropped earlier this month.

Kathy Morris and Sheila Quarles will lead a "Natural Beauty" chat, and a fitness workshop and Health & Wellness Pavilion with health educators will also be available. A natural hair styling show and an all-male panel on relationships round out the day's activities.
