Uber adding 3,000 new jobs per month in Pennsylvania

Uber says its growing in Pennsylvania and is confident that trend will continue.

In a news release Tuesday, the company said it has created 22,000 jobs in the state since arriving and is adding 3,000 jobs per month across Pennsylvania. By 2020, it is aiming to have a total employment of 150,000 in the Keystone State.

Uber also boasts claims of an anticipated $100 million in net earnings for its drivers this year and availability to 77 percent of Pennsylvanians after expansion to cities like Allentown, Lancaster and Reading. 

While the ride-sharing service continues to expand its presence in the state, its status in Philadelphia remains in question. It's cheaper UberX service, which has less stringent requirements for drivers and vehicles, is illegal in the city.

Uber, meanwhile, has offered to handle the fines and penalties taken on by UberX drivers at the hands of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, and has continued to operate its UberX service despite PPA sting operations.
