U.S. Senator Cory Booker writing memoir-policy book 'United'

January 2016 publication timed to coincide with presidential race

U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D - New Jersey) is at work on a memoir that will examine his personal and political path while grappling with timely policy issues and the foundations of American progress.

The book, entitled 'United,' will be published by Ballantine Bantam Dell in January 2016, PolitickerNJ reports.

A press release from the publisher indicated that Booker will share stories from throughout his life as a football standout, a Rhodes Scholar, a Yale Law graduate, the Mayor of Newark, and now a United States Senator.

“Our national story is one of progress in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds,” said Booker. “We’ve advanced to where we are today thanks to countless Americans who united together with an unrelenting determination to overcome challenges, seize opportunities and leave our country a better place for the next generation. The binds that tie us are truly greater than the lines that divide us. I am excited to have the opportunity to share stories and ideas that I believe are important if we as a nation are to continue to advance together.”

Some of the policy issues to be discussed in 'United' include the U.S. criminal justice system, the economy and the environment. Booker will stress the importance of connection, compassion and pragmatism as principles to achieve our promise as a nation.

Timed for publication during a presidential race, the book could position Booker as a potential running mate as he shares his vision and plan to revitalize America.
